Growing beauty from ashes in Ukraine: Eternal fruit is growing as you share God’s love
Elisabeth doesn’t remember a time before war, hunger, and health struggles.
When missiles started falling in her homeland of Ukraine, she was only 4 years old. She couldn’t possibly understand how many lives would be lost or how many would go hungry . . . or how desperate her own situation would become.
Not long before the war started, Elisabeth was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She needed insulin to survive, but once the fighting began, it seemed impossible to find. Everything was in chaos.
Her family had nowhere to turn . . . until Feed The Hungry teams, supported by friends like you, stepped in to deliver life-saving help in the name of Jesus.
You’ve helped save multitudes of lives
Thanks to donations from supporters like you, our partners on the ground in Ukraine were able to locate insulin and deliver it to Elisabeth . . . likely saving her life.
And Elisabeth is just one of many who’ve found help and hope, thanks to you.
Because friends like you gave, Feed The Hungry has delivered 10 million pounds of food to hungry Ukrainians since the start of the war—including those who live near the fighting and those who’ve fled as refugees, trying to start over with nothing.
This food and other help aren’t simply dropped off in a pile in a town square. To ensure the supplies reach those who need them most—who are often too frail to leave their homes to pick up aid—we work with local churches and missionaries in hard places.
These faithful believers direct care packs to the most desperate. And it’s not “one size fits all.” God’s care is personal, so this is too. Some people need specific medications . . . or things like adult diapers or toothbrushes. Virtually everyone needs food.
Reaching the neediest can involve 12-hour round-trip drives to dangerous places near the front, then climbing 8 flights of stairs with heavy bags of food and other aid.
And when these teams arrive, they don’t just drop off the food and leave. They stay to listen. To pray. To share Gospel hope with men, women, and children who are going into the fifth year of war, of hearing missiles hit, of losing loved ones.
One local Feed The Hungry leader said, “The help strengthens their souls, their spirits. It helps them go on.” That’s your impact.
Amidst the hurt, God is using you to grow a spiritual harvest
The physical and spiritual impacts are profound as believers step forward to give hope. Now, the Church is known as a bulwark of refuge, prayer, and the place to go when you are suffering. One church leader commented:
“This is a moment of great conversion to God. . . . Our churches are filled with people who had never come before."
Another pastor explained, “Christian volunteers are currently one of the most powerful lifelines for Ukraine and its people.”
Your prayers and support helped build this powerful lifeline . . . and they are needed now more than ever.
Your powerful impact on people in need
The war is now in its fifth year. 2.59 million children have been displaced from their homes. Infrastructure and supply chains are in chaos. One in five children has lost loved ones, usually their fathers. Some have lived in dark basements for weeks on end.
The sense of loss, mourning, and exhaustion is overwhelming. Yet God is working through His body to bring hope.
Local churches near the front are often tiny . . . but they are committed to sharing God’s love at this critical hour. Many Ukrainian believers are fasting for two meals daily—and giving what they would have spent on those meals to help their hurting neighbors.
Will you join with them and give a gift to feed and bless war-weary people today?
The needs remain enormous. The war has gone on for so long that much of the world has looked away. But the body of Christ must not grow weary of doing good!
Your gift today will deliver personal care to men, women, and children who have endured five long years of violence—along with prayer, encouragement, and Gospel hope. It takes just $1 to provide 5 war victims with food for a day. Please be a part.
