Uganda: Meet Kristen & Daniel—two refugees whose lives you changed.
At only 15, Kristen (from war-torn South Sudan) was living alone in one of Uganda’s sprawling refugee camps. You can imagine her fear each night. Her hunger each morning.
But one day, Kristen came across Pastor Solomon, one of Feed The Hungry’s faithful partners. She was overwhelmed when he told her she could get daily meals. Go to school. Build a brighter future . . . because friends like you wanted to help.
Kristen truly couldn’t believe it. She said, “Don’t raise my expectations. Don’t lie to me.”
You help children find hope in the hardest places.
Pastor Solomon looked at Kristen’s face, full of challenge and hurt. She was clearly terrified of being let down again. Of facing another disappointment that could break her.
But Pastor Solomon gently, solemnly reassured her:
Yes, there will be meals for you, every day.
Yes, you can start going to school—you no longer need to scavenge all day.
No, you are not forgotten.
In fact, people from halfway around the world want to help you.
And God wants to know you too . . .
Kristen, who had been so strong for so long, broke down in tears.
In that muddy refugee camp, she couldn’t believe someone saw her, wanted to help her. She finally decided to trust—and now her life is completely different.
Because you give to provide food served every day by loving Christians, Kristen is no longer alone. She’s in school, eating warm meals each day, and beginning to envision a future again.
That’s your impact! And you’re making the same difference for thousands of children across Uganda’s refugee camps.
Meet Daniel. He’s 7, and he wants to protect those he loves!
Daniel, just 7 years old, is another refugee whose life you helped touch. He’s experienced so much loss in his short life. His parents died. His homeland (South Sudan) is consumed by war. He arrived in Uganda as a refugee . . . so little and carrying so much heartbreak.
Daniel’s sister, desperate for some protection, married at the age of just 14.
And Daniel, still so small, holds hurts in his heart that most adults can’t even imagine.
But in all the pain, Daniel has found a path to a brighter future.
Just like Kristen, Feed The Hungry partners found him, listened to his heartache, and gave him hope. Now Daniel is in school, eating meals you provide, and determined to grow into a strong man who protects those he loves.
Because of you, Kristen and Daniel aren’t hungry and hopeless anymore. But so many children are still waiting.
Will you help those who have no one?
Uganda is now home to approximately 1.8 million refugees—living in overcrowded, ill-equipped refugee camps. They’re fleeing war atrocities in Sudan, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Many of the child refugees have lost one or both parents. They’ve seen horrible things. Often they’ve walked mile after mile, hoping to find safety . . . only to discover that the camps don’t have enough food either.
You can ensure these children finally find hope and rest.
Feed The Hungry’s local Christian partners already feed 77,000 children in these refugee camps each day. It’s a challenge to keep up, and more children are arriving daily. These boys and girls have absolutely nothing.
Will you please give food and hope . . . so no child is alone like Kristen, or tiny and terrified like Daniel?
Just 20¢ feeds a child for a day—and shows them they have not been forgotten. Please, stand with those who’ve already faced too much heartache. Give them meals and the chance to build a brighter future.
